Franco Colapinto

Born in Pilar, Buenos Aires, Franco Colapinto arrived in Formula 1 the way Argentina has always dreamed one of its own would — explosively, unapologetically, and with an attacking instinct that immediately caught every eye in the paddock. He began karting at nine years old, built through the Spanish and European junior formulae, and claimed his first title at the 2019 F4 Spanish Championship before navigating Formula Renault, Formula 3, Formula 2, and even a stint at the 24 Hours of Le Mans as part of his wide-ranging development. His path to Formula 1 was unconventional, but the opportunity, when it came, was seized with both hands.

Williams called on him to replace Logan Sargeant from the 2024 Italian Grand Prix onwards, and Colapinto delivered a series of immediate, impressive performances that made the decision look inspired within the first few laps. His appointment at Alpine for 2025 — continuing into a full season in 2026 alongside Gasly — confirmed his place on the grid as more than a fleeting substitute. Race by race, he is building the consistency to match the raw speed that first turned heads at Monza.
