Pierre Gasly

Pierre Gasly's Formula 1 career is a masterclass in resilience. Born in Rouen, Normandy into a family with deep motorsport roots — his grandmother was a champion karter, his grandfather also raced, and his father competed as an amateur rally driver — Gasly earned his place through the European junior categories before becoming a front-runner in Super Formula Japan in 2017. He made his F1 debut as a mid-season substitute that same year, and from that first appearance at Toro Rosso, he never looked back.

His darkest hour arrived in 2019 when he was dropped mid-season from Red Bull Racing, brutally demoted just half a year into the job. What followed was one of the great comebacks in the sport. Restored to form at AlphaTauri, Gasly delivered one of the most emotional victories in modern F1 at the 2020 Italian Grand Prix at Monza — the first French Grand Prix winner in 24 years, since Olivier Panis at Monaco in 1996. He has gone on to be a consistent, respected, and increasingly senior voice in the paddock, joining Alpine in 2023 and proving his class regularly in machinery that rarely flatters. At the 2026 Italian Grand Prix — on the very same Monza circuit where he won his only race in 2020 — he claimed his first-ever career pole position.
